ACE AND ARO IN AN ALLO WORLD
ACE AND ARO IN AN ALLO WORLD: RELATIONSHIP-BUILDING FOR ASEXUAL AND AROMANTIC FOLKS
Most people assume that asexual and aromantic people are, in no uncertain terms, not interested in relationships or sex. But this isn't the case. Ace and aro folks seek out and engage in a wide variety of relationships, both romantic and sexual, that upend our common misconceptions about the communities.
In this talk/workshop, we'll examine what it's like to be ace or aro in an allo world. We'll explore the normative forces that asexuality and aromanticism question. We'll learn how ace and aro people tackle love and sex. And we'll explore strategies for building relationships that honor ace and aro experiences (while being good for allos, too).
Target Audience: College audiences and up. But a version can be tailored for high-school students.
Duration: 60 to 120 minutes
Who should book this training? Colleges or organizations wanting to program relationship-focused programming that’s more broadly queer-inclusive. Colleges or organizations looking to program asexuality/aromanticism programming that’s beyond the 101.
