Talks and Trainings

The talks and trainings below represent a few ways in which my work can be presented to educate your school, organization, or community about asexuality.

These trainings can be mixed and matched to best suit your specific needs, and they can all be scaled and personalized based on the age and interest of your particular audience. I’m also always happy to work with you in designing a training specific to you!

ACE CAMP: An Introduction to asexuality

“Ace Camp” is a training/workshop designed to introduce participants to asexuality: understanding what asexuality is; understanding attraction, desire, and behavior; breaking down the spectrum of asexuality; learning what asexuality teaches us about mainstream culture; and acquiring new skills to create inclusive spaces for asexual folks and those questioning their sexuality.

Target Audience: This workshop can be tailored to student/youth groups (high school and up) as well as to adult groups (specifically adults who work with young people).

Duration: 60-90 minutes.

Who should book this training?: This training is great for high school GSAs, LGBTQ community centers, schools and other organizations looking for queer-friendly professional development programs.

This workshop can be delivered in-person or virtually. And it can be tailored as a straightforward talk/Q&A or something with more interactive components.

Ace and aro cultural competencies: Creating inclusive space for ace and aro people

This training combines a brief “Ace and Aro 101” with a hands-on exploration of ways we can create more intentional, inclusive spaces and experiences for ace and aro people. The program looks at how aspec folks experience the world, who makes up these communities, and how we can integrate ace and aro folks into the work we do and the spaces we lead.

Target Audience: This workshop is designed for schools, organizations and businesses looking to include ace and aro identities in their diversity training and cultural sensitivity training.

Duration: 60 or 120 minutes.

Who should book this training?: Schools looking to increase queer-friendly inclusivity training for their staff; organizations that work with young people (libraries, community centers, etc.) looking to increase their queer-friendly inclusivity training for staff.

This workshop can be delivered in person or virtually.

Asexual Sex and How to Have It: Sex and Relationships through an Asexual Lens

Want to have better sex? Have sex like an asexual. In this talk/workshop, we'll explore the practicalities and possibilities of a great sex life through an asexual lens.

Existing outside of allonormative expectations of what "good sex" is teaches you a lot about how to build a good sex life. From reimagining what "good sex" is, to expanding our ideas of consent ad turning them into tools for pleasure, to exploring sexuality without the sex, this talk/workshop will empower asexual folks to explore their asexual sexuality, and it will expand horizons for allo folks and make them stronger partners.

Target Audience: College audiences and up.

Duration: 60 to 120 minutes

Who should book this training? Colleges or organizations wanting to program relationship- and sex-focused programming that’s more broadly queer-inclusive. Colleges or organizations looking to program asexuality/aromanticism programming that’s beyond the 101.

This workshop can be delivered in person or virtually.

Ace and Aro in an Allo World: Relationship-Building for Asexual and Aromantic Folks

Most people assume that asexual and aromantic people are, in no uncertain terms, not interested in relationships or sex. But this isn't the case. Ace and aro folks seek out and engage in a wide variety of relationships, both romantic and sexual, that upend our common misconceptions about the communities.

In this talk/workshop, we'll examine what it's like to be ace or aro in an allo world. We'll explore the normative forces that asexuality and aromanticism question. We'll learn how ace and aro people tackle love and sex. And we'll explore strategies for building relationships that honor ace and aro experiences (while being good for allos, too).

Target Audience: College audiences and up. But a version can be tailored for high-school students.

Duration: 60 to 120 minutes

Who should book this training? Colleges or organizations wanting to program relationship-focused programming that’s more broadly queer-inclusive. Colleges or organizations looking to program asexuality/aromanticism programming that’s beyond the 101.

This workshop can be delivered in person or virtually.
