ACE AND ARO CULTURAL COMPETENCIES: CREATING ASPEC-AFFIRMING SPACES AND PRACTICES

This training combines a brief “Ace and Aro 101” with a hands-on exploration of ways we can create more intentional, inclusive spaces and experiences for ace and aro people. The program looks at how aspec folks experience the world, who makes up these communities, and how we can integrate ace and aro folks into the work we do and the spaces we lead.

Target Audience: This workshop is designed for schools, organizations and businesses looking to include ace and aro identities in their diversity training and cultural sensitivity training.

Duration: 60 or 120 minutes.

Who should book this training?: Schools looking to increase queer-friendly inclusivity training for their staff; organizations that work with young people (libraries, community centers, etc.) looking to increase their queer-friendly inclusivity training for staff.

This workshop can be delivered in person or virtually.

As an LGBTQ+ agency, we lacked staff competency on supporting our aro and ace spectrum young people. Cody’s training really kicked down the door on aro/ace visibility for us and I was surprised by how much I learned as someone on the spectrum. The training went from A-Z on the theoreticals of split attraction model and micro labels to practical scenarios on how to affirm youth coming out and include the community in sex positive group spaces. Cody's presentation style is true to the Ace Dad Advice brand as he speaks with so much care and quiet authority that is as soothing as it is engaging. By popular demand, we will definitely have Cody host this training again in the future.
