High Five: Frances Duncan

Here’s what Frances (she/they) submitted to describe herself: 7 "A" identifiers: asexual, aromantic, agender, ADHD, Autistic, Author, Austenite. I'm a life coach too and indigenous, sadly they don't fit the pattern. Frances identifies as ace and aro.

Question 1: What's your aspec origin story? How did you figure out you were aspec?

My body "stopped working" sexually, after years of trying to find a medical reason, and a lot of research, I realised the way that I viewed the world/relationships/sex wasn't the norm. You mean all these people really want to have the sex with someone they've just met??

Question 2: What's one or two important lessons being aspec has taught you?

Romantic relationships aren't required to include sex.

Question 3: What's missing in the aspec community? What do you wish to see improved in the community?

I'd love there to be more positivity, I've left ace groups because people were only complaining and it dragged me down.

Question 4: What do you think is going right in the aspec community? What are your aspec joys?

My friendships are so much deeper than they've been. You can love a friend as much as a partner. Also cake.
