The world needs you to move.

It’s okay to be overwhelmed right now. The world is being extra.

It’s okay to look around at everything that’s happening and think, “I don’t know what the fuck to do right now.”

It’s okay to feel like you don’t have the skills to be useful the way other people are. To feel like other people know more than you do about justice and inequality. To feel like other people are braver than you are because they’re out in the streets protesting. To feel like other people are “good,” in ways that you aren’t, because they know the right words, the right actions, the right organizations to donate to, the right writers to quote tweet.

It’s okay to feel however you’re feeling right now. People are human. Feelings, even the fucked ones, happen.

But.

But.

it’s not okay to do nothing right now.

Okay, but I just said I don’t know what the fuck to do right now. Every single one of us who have some idea what to do right now at one point didn’t know what to do either.

You can’t go from zero to Angela Davis. You have to start somewhere. And the “somewhere” is a small step. It’s reading an article. It’s asking a friend for input. It’s Googling “how do I become an activist?”

It’s beginning to move. It’s not staying still.

We’ll deal with things like effectiveness later. Just take this moment to move.

The world needs you to move.
