High Five: Dany

Here’s what Dany (he/him) wants you to know about him: I try to live my truth openly in a closed world.

Dany identifies as aroace.

Question 1: What's your aspec origin story? How did you figure out you were aspec?

Before I always tried to fit. I pretended again and again to be interested by sexual stuff. Or wanted a partner. Just because I was feeling already different and hated as trans. I thought I'll die without anyone knowing I was trans and; what I didn't know as that term before; aroace. But it seems like I survived. Then I've been asked if I could be one celebrity boyfriend. And I realized suddenly that... No. I made research and everything made sense with the aroace meaning. I realized it's ok to not be into sex and romance.

Question 2: What's one or two important lessons being aspec has taught you?

I learned that I can love and express love as much as I want (respecting people boundaries ofc), without it being weird. I also learned that I can stop thinking of how being who I am could affect other people.

Question 3: What's missing in the aspec community? What do you wish to see improved in the community?

I have some friends who are in aspec community as well, but I'm a beginner regarding world aspec community. I would still say, as sadly in many LGBTQIA+ community, that it would be better to not make differences between us. We're not aspec premium by being aroace.

Question 4: What do you think is going right in the aspec community? What are your aspec joys?

From the people I know, and what I saw. I think we care about people. We usually know what it's like to not be understood, seen, accepted. So we do not wish that to anyone. My biggest joy is to love and say to my friends that I love them without worrying of them wondering if I'm in love or desire them.

Question 5: (Choose your own adventure here!) What's a question you wish I'd asked, and what is your answer?

That's not easy to think of something to add. As this is already interested and caring. But maybe, if a question should be added "What advice would you give to aspec people living around haters?". I would have answered "Knowing there are places they're welcomed. If the surroundings are far from easy, and you feel like the entire world want you dead. If you don't feel like you belong anywhere. Go back to this kind of pages and places. Because safe places exists rightfully, as them."

Dany wanted to share a link to The Shameless Fund.
